Apple Park Opens to Employees in April

February 22nd, 2017
CUPERTINO, California — February 22, 2017 — Apple® today announced that Apple Park, the company’s new 175-acre campus, will be ready for employees to begin occupying in April. The process of moving more than 12,000 people will take over six months, and construction of the buildings and parklands is scheduled to continue through the summer.

Envisioned by Steve Jobs as a center for creativity and collaboration, Apple Park is transforming miles of asphalt sprawl into a haven of green space in the heart of the Santa Clara Valley. The campus’ ring-shaped, 2.8 million-square-foot main building is clad entirely in the world’s largest panels of curved glass.

Steve would have turned 62 this Friday, February 24. To honor his memory and his enduring influence on Apple and the world, the theater at Apple Park will be named the Steve Jobs Theater. Opening later this year, the entrance to the 1,000-seat auditorium is a 20-foot-tall glass cylinder, 165 feet in diameter, supporting a metallic carbon-fiber roof. The Steve Jobs Theater is situated atop a hill — one of the highest points within Apple Park — overlooking meadows and the main building.

“Steve’s vision for Apple stretched far beyond his time with us. He intended Apple Park to be the home of innovation for generations to come,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “The workspaces and parklands are designed to inspire our team as well as benefit the environment. We’ve achieved one of the most energy-efficient buildings in the world and the campus will run entirely on renewable energy.”

“Steve was exhilarated, and inspired, by the California landscape, by its light and its expansiveness. It was his favorite setting for thought. Apple Park captures his spirit uncannily well,” said Laurene Powell Jobs. “He would have flourished, as the people of Apple surely will, on this luminously designed campus.”

“Steve invested so much of his energy creating and supporting vital, creative environments. We have approached the design, engineering and making of our new campus with the same enthusiasm and design principles that characterize our products,” said Jony Ive, Apple’s chief design officer. “Connecting extraordinarily advanced buildings with rolling parkland creates a wonderfully open environment for people to create, collaborate and work together. We have been extremely fortunate to be able to work closely, over many years, with the remarkable architectural practice Foster + Partners.”

Apple Park will also include a visitors center with an Apple Store® and cafe open to the public, a 100,000-square-foot fitness center for Apple employees, secure research and development facilities and the Steve Jobs Theater. The parklands offer two miles of walking and running paths for employees, plus an orchard, meadow and pond within the ring’s interior grounds.

Designed in collaboration with Foster + Partners, Apple Park replaces 5 million-square-feet of asphalt and concrete with grassy fields and over 9,000 native and drought-resistant trees, and is powered by 100 percent renewable energy. With 17 megawatts of rooftop solar, Apple Park will run one of the largest on-site solar energy installations in the world. It is also the site of the world’s largest naturally ventilated building, projected to require no heating or air conditioning for nine months of the year.

GarageBand® for iOS 2.2 now features the powerful creative synthesizer Alchemy and a new sound browser that makes searching through instruments and patches easier than ever. Logic Pro™ X 10.3 becomes an even more powerful tool for pros with a modern interface, new features for professional audio production as well as support for the revolutionary Touch Bar™ on the new MacBook Pro®, putting intuitive, context-sensitive controls right at users’ fingertips.

Logic Pro X users can also remotely add new tracks to their Logic® sessions from their iPhone or iPad when they’re away from their Mac. With a new share option, users can upload a special GarageBand-compatible version of a Logic project to iCloud®, which they can then open on their iOS devices and add new recordings whenever inspiration strikes. When the project is saved back to iCloud, any newly added tracks will automatically appear in the original Logic project the next time it’s opened on a Mac.

“Music has always been part of Apple’s DNA, and we are excited to deliver yet another fun and powerful update to our music creation apps, GarageBand for iOS and Logic Pro X,” said Susan Prescott, Apple’s vice president of Applications Product Marketing. “These updates bring a wide range of new and highly requested features to both hobbyists and the community of pro musicians and audio engineers who rely on our software and hardware to create amazing music.”

“Logic Pro X is an indispensable part of the creative process for me and the artists I work with. I’m thrilled to see all the new professional features that have been added,” said Grammy- and Academy Award-winning producer and composer Paul Epworth. “As a huge fan of the Alchemy synthesizer, I love that I can grab my iPhone or iPad and use GarageBand to keep coming up with new tracks for my Logic sessions when I’m traveling and away from my studio.”

GarageBand for iOS
GarageBand for iOS brings even more sophisticated music creation options to iPhone and iPad, while still remaining fun and easy to use. It features a redesigned sound browser that makes it faster than ever to explore Touch Instruments® and quickly find the exact sounds you’re looking for.

Alchemy, one of the world’s most innovative modern synthesizers and a favorite of Logic Pro users, comes to iOS and includes a rich collection of over 150 Apple-designed patches from a wide variety of genres, including EDM, Hip Hop, Indie, Rock, Pop and more. And with Alchemy’s Transform Pad, users can morph between eight sonic snapshots in real-time, to create expressive synth performances.

Recording music in GarageBand for iOS also gets easier with Multi-Take Recording, giving users multiple passes to capture their best performance and the ability to audition and switch between their favorite takes.

The release also features a redesigned Audio Recorder that adds fun, one-tap vocal effects and provides users with even more sophisticated studio effects like pitch correction, distortion and delay. Seasoned users looking for even more control over their mixes can use a new collection of advanced audio processing tools, including an interactive graphic Visual EQ and the ability to use third-party Audio Unit plug-in effects for expandable, creative sound design.

The latest release features a new modern design that improves legibility in a variety of working environments.

Logic Pro X also adds support for the revolutionary new Touch Bar on MacBook Pro, providing the ability to view and navigate your project in a timeline overview, along with convenient access to volume and Smart Controls for any selected track. New performance controls let you play and record software instruments with the Touch Bar using a piano keyboard that can also be customized to a variety of musical scales, or by tapping drum pads to create beats. Assignable key command buttons let you customize the Touch Bar controls to keep your favorite keyboard shortcuts available when you need them.

Track Alternatives let users create and switch between different playlists of regions and edits on any track. This feature makes it easier to experiment with various creative ideas or evaluate different versions of a track as it evolves. Selection-based Processing allows users to apply any combination of Logic or third-party effect plug-ins onto any selection of one or multiple audio regions. It is useful for optimizing sound quality and a great tool for creative sound design.

App Store Shatters Records on New Year’s Day

January 5th, 2017
CUPERTINO, California — January 5, 2017 — Apple® today announced that the App Store® welcomed 2017 with its busiest single day ever on New Year’s Day, capping a record-breaking holiday season and a year of unprecedented developer earnings and breakout app hits. In 2016 alone, developers earned over $20 billion, up over 40 percent from 2015. Since the App Store launched in 2008, developers have earned over $60 billion, creating amazing app experiences for App Store customers across iPhone®, iPad®, Apple Watch®, Apple TV® and Mac®. Those efforts helped kick off 2017 with a remarkable start, making New Year’s Day the highest single day ever for the App Store with nearly $240 million in purchases.

“2016 was a record-shattering year for the App Store, generating $20 billion for developers, and 2017 is off to a great start with Jan. 1 as the single biggest day ever on the App Store,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We want to thank our entire developer community for the many innovative apps they have created — which together with our products — help to truly enrich people’s lives.”

Customers broke all-time records this holiday season with purchases from the App Store topping $3 billion in December. In the same month, Nintendo’s Super Mario Run made history with more than 40 million downloads in just four days after its release, and was the most downloaded app globally on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.

Super Mario Run is also among last year’s top 10 most downloaded apps worldwide, with Pokémon Go taking the top spot. Pokémon Go, a beloved game from Niantic, quickly became a cultural phenomenon in mid-2016. Prisma, Reigns, Procreate, Lumino City, Sweat With Kayla and djay Pro, from some of Apple's independent developers, were among the most successful apps for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Mac, respectively. The App Store offers 2.2 million apps in total, up over 20 percent from last year.

With the App Store available in 155 countries, Apple’s customers have access to millions of apps to make their lives easier, enrich their passions and connect with people from all around the world. The App Store’s top-grossing markets include the US, China, Japan and the UK, with China experiencing record year-over-year growth at an incredible 90 percent. The global impact of the App Store was captured this past year with two campaigns — Apps for Earth and Games for (RED). In partnership with the World Wildlife Fund and (RED), customers were empowered to make a difference, helping to protect life on our planet and join the fight against AIDS. The custom content created by each campaign’s participating developers helped raise over $17 million in total for the two organizations.

With the introduction of iMessage® apps and SiriKit in iOS 10, developers created exciting new types of app experiences. iPhone and iPad customers now have access to over 21,000 iMessage apps to send stickers and easily collaborate with friends, and for the first time ever, users can ask Siri® to book rides, make payments, return a call and more.

Since subscriptions became available across all 25 app categories this fall, including Games and Kids, customers can subscribe to their favorite services from over 20,000 apps, with Netflix, HBO Now, Line, Tinder and MLB.com At Bat among last year’s most popular. iPhone and iPad customers grew the App Store’s subscription billings significantly in 2016, to $2.7 billion, up 74 percent from 2015.

ROUND ONE UPDATES (Jan. 1, 2017)

January 1st, 2017

(tl;dr & shipping info @ bottom of the post)

First off, I want to offer my sincerest apologies for not communicating more throughout the build process of Round One. I know how it feels to be left in the dark and it's frustrating as all heck. All of us have been working 'round the clock and sleeping around 2 nights a week for the last month and losing time happens more than I'd like it to.

------

I think we've officially started to refer to Round One internally as 'The Little Engine That Could'.

We've hit quite a few bumps in the road so far during Round One. The holidays really messed with us and we should have anticipated more issues concerning that right off the bat (both from a personal and business sense). Everyone here decided to basically ignore the holidays completely and just keep chugging along to try to offset some of the minor delays we're experiencing.

We stocked up on at least one of every replacement part we could think of, but we still had a few small delays with MORE replacements we needed over the last 2 weeks. We're planning to upgrade one of our (adding yet another) mill to HQ as soon as we can in 2017.

We took a lot of time to find the right wood supplier. We were confident they had reliably great product while building our prototypes (which nearly every piece was perfect for) but our largest shipment of wood for Round One had to be sent back. The whole first batch of coils we ordered also had to be sent back due to both quality and safety concerns (but we have since found a new supplier we're much happier with). So yet again, due to the holidays, we got set back quite a bit during these exchange processes.

(I mean, seriously, what the hell is this?)

(Or this? btw, this had seen new heat shrink 3 times by day 3 and the plug was replaced on day 3 as well. Then the ground ripped out).

We tried to mill some of the slightly less warped stock but ended up scrapping a few hundred bucks in wood alone when we started to worry about the enclosures cracking once the finishing process started (or them literally just breaking in half during milling). It's been...frustrating to say the least.

We offset this somewhat by finding another local supplier for about half of the replacements we needed and just buying them outright, but we still took a pretty decent time hit there since the wood is basically the front end of the entire process.

And here's some shots of our new coils, which are lightyears ahead of our first shipment or the one above (which was bought from a local shop before our others had arrived as a 'back-up').

The shrink is reinforced, the coils are actually wrapped in a friggin' ROUND SHAPE, they're Nichrome instead of Kanthal (Duh), and have Kevlar sleeves (thank god). The plugs are also MUCH higher quality than our previous stock.

------

We also invested a decent chunk of change into hiring and flying out a contractor I've known for a long time from Texas to help us further optimize our wiring schematics and help us throughout the assembly portion of Round One. His flight ended up coming in 2 days late, and his checked bag of tools took 3 more days to get here due to issues with lost luggage.

We were ecstatic to finally get him here though. He's been a miracle the past couple of weeks and the extra day or two we took redrawing the schematics with him was well worth it (he even found a way to add another hardware failsafe into the design without adding more 'noise'). In an attempt to take a load off our very over-worked developer (Liz, more straight from her below) he's taken over most of the internal manufacturing.

After that discovery we also wanted to put in another layer of software protection / auto-limiting functionality. Safety is one of our biggest concerns since I'm sure quite of few of y'all have units going on a regular basis throughout the day the same way we do here. We don't want anyone to have to worry about leaving their nail on in another room, etc. Though who's to say that's not just our personal paranoia peaking through?

Our mounting hardware for the bottom of each unit has been changed as well to try and ensure better durability & longevity for each unit.

The delay in milling a lot of our Bloodwood orders set us back on testing and burning in a lot of units as well, but we also want to make sure we end up with every customer getting a good, solid controller. The last thing we want is for someone to receive a unit that just falls apart on them the next day. We are burning in each unit with their respective coils as well. After watching a lot of different coils break in and change (thermally) from our various testing throughout Round One we see this as a necessity to try and maintain solid temps 'out of the box' and verify proper function. Both coil and controller will getting a minimum of 48 hours burn-in before being shipped out. Period. Burn-in is also, of course, a big extra safety check, too.

I've compiled our final checklist for each unit (which will be included in your orders) to make sure we have at least 2 people check each unit in and out before shipping. They will be initialed after each inspection. This list will also serve as our Certificate of Authenticity so it will contain serial # and other relevant info about each unit (along with notes on any fun manufacturing tidbits like knots, eyes, and unique grain patterns in each enclosure, etc.). Each screen will be calibrated before sending it out. Little finishing touches like that are some of the minor things that slipped past us the last couple of weeks.
------
I waited on this update to get more info (re: code monkey stuff) from our developer on how the software is progressing as well so (for the first time) here's a little info straight from her.

Engineering is currently running security audits, compiling the final models, and just finished the v1.0.0 build!

While the software is still in it's infancy, the already feature-rich controller serves as perfect base from which to build.

We've taken the time to create a true IoT (Internet of Things) device; seamless delivery of an ever-improving product, only integrated as much or as little as it needs to be.

Our Android app will be available later this month and Apple still has the red tape around us at the moment (as you’d expect). We started the process awhile back, but can only assume the holidays have them dragging their feet as well (since we aren’t worried about it being approved in general).

Internally, we'll be discussing how much of the API to open up after pre-orders are out (think plug-ins, tuning rules, custom nail profiles, etc.), any and all suggestions / feature requests are welcome.

(Give us some stars for the new year? https://github.com/Hex-Nail/hexnail-module-examples/blob/master/README.md

Here's a small preview of how some of the interface has changed / improved over the course of Round One as well. Bear in mind some of these shots are out of date and were taken after a ground-up rewrite of the entire system to improve stability and performance.

------

The last thing I want to address are the extras we were planning to sent out with units. Don't worry, any of you that ordered early, or chose exclusive swag over partial refunds to help us out financially during the bulk purchasing will absolutely still be getting some really fun (and useful) stuff...we just need to send it later this month once all of our unit orders are taken care of. I hope this doesn't disappoint anyone too much and I can promise I'm gonna try to get even more fun stuff done for everyone once we get the orders out.

We've got a few things planned, but just so you get an idea of what's coming here's a few of of the ideas I've been (literally) milling over here and there since Round One began...

Matching (Hardwood) Dabbers
- The body will be made of the chosen wood for each order

Controller (45 Degree Angle) Stands
- Various materials will be used. We'll also be looking into making mounting brackets at some point for direct mounting to walls, etc.

Signed Prototype Design Enclosure Pieces
- Round One will be a huge accomplishment for us and we want all of our supporters to have a piece of what they helped make happen besides just the unit itself.

And of course we'd love to send some of the usual 'stoner swag' like shirts, dab mats, pins, and stickers, too.

------

tl;dr - We hoping to send units out in small batches as we wrap-up each inspection and burn-in over the course of this (and next) week. Overall, in spite of a 'Santa's List'-esque set of issues we've run into outlook is positive and we can't wait to get these in your hands. Multiple year's worth of development, planning, testing, and prototypes are finally coming into focus and we ask that you bear with us just a little longer.

TRACKING NUMBERS WILL BE PROVIDED IN BATCHES AS SOON AS EACH ONE SHIPS. THIS IS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO EDIT YOUR SHIPPING ADDRESS (IF NEED BE).

“Why should I get a Hex-Nail? What makes it different?”

December 4th, 2016

The Hex-Nail is world's most integrated, advanced, and accurate e-nail on the market today. Boasting complete control from all your personal devices (via Bluetooth 4.0 or Wi-Fi) & features like a Dab Log, Real-Time Temperature Graphs, 5.5" Touchscreen, Glob Mode, and so much more.

Our proprietary A.D.M. Technology makes it the ONLY e-nail that shows you what temperature you are actually dabbing at. Using real-world analysis of current nails on the market today we can accurately predict in real-time what the temperature of your nail is...instead of just telling you your coil temperature and tossing a calculator in your lap.

And that same clunky metal box box we all know and love? Gone. We use high-quality American sourced, quarter-sawn hardwood for our enclosures. CNC Milled in-house to ensure the highest quality standards in the industry.

The next piece of the puzzle comes with the finish for the milled enclosure. Over 13 steps of sanding, oiling, waxing, and buffing are applied, by hand, to every single Hex-Nail that leaves our doors. Not to mention over 75 hours of stress testing to ensure that all the hardware is fool-proof & functioning for years to come.

And the final piece to the puzzle is our Lifetime Warranty, Lifetime Support, and Lifetime Software & Tuning updates. You'll never be behind the curve with the HN-01. New features are already being implemented every day from suggestions within the community. We give the people what they want, and we can deliver it without forcing our customers to buy a whole new e-nail.

Whether you live your life connected to the world around you, or completely off the grid. Hex-Nail is here to not only give you the best, but also the most accurate dab available today.

If you need more reasons, or have any feature suggestions just shoot me a line: ava@hex-nail.com

Hex-Nail (HN-01): Now Available Internationally!

December 3rd, 2016

The Hex-Nail is already compatible with any power from 100v-250v*
* - You just need a 220v coil.

Current orders include coils as a free Pre-Order bonus. After pre-orders are shipped, coils will be an add-on option to the HN-01 base price of $360.

We had left the 220v 'option' off the site until now because we haven't found a vendor we want to work with that carries a 220v coil we're particularly fond of including with the HN-01. There are options out there, but it's much harder to track down a good (but affordable) 220v heater coil than we first expected. We're in the process of trying to find a good alternative from another source to include in pre-orders for international customers.

At this point, we are currently implementing a 'No Coil' option to our in-line cart that reduces the price slightly for 220v customers (since we are getting closer to the shipment of pre-orders) to off-set the lack of a coil in their pre-orders. We'll be taking a hit, but we want our friends across the world's various ponds to be able to have a Hex-Nail, too) without simply having to shell out an extra $20 for nothing. It's live on the site now. We're also adding specs to the site during that update to make this all more clear (due to a few changes and time constraints, there are currently none listed.) within the next few days.

Let me know if you have any issues and please use coupon code: intrnlshphn01 to take some off for the lack of 220v coil with your pre-order.

Note: This is a workaround until we can properly implement regional restrictions for 'No Coil' selection in our in-line cart. If you attempt to purchase within the US with this code for a discount your order will immediately be cancelled. 110v coils are included as a pre-order bonus. The base price at launch for the unit only will be $360 after Round One.

A coil free option post-launch will be implemented for everyone, however, after our Round One orders ship.

Thank you for your patience while we get this taken care of and implement the changes over the next few days. By the time we ship, if we have found an option that's up to snuff we will offer the coil at a discounted rate (with free shipping) to customers that pre-ordered and would have preferred to receive a new coil.

Beyond that...

We're hoping to manufacture our own heaters at some point in the future. We have a few designs almost ready, but simply don't have the time (with the finishing touches and upcoming logistics of the HN-01 roll-out) or capital to invest into the actual development of said designs right now.

Honestly, as a (currently) 100% self-funded company, we're living fairly hand-to-mouth right now after quitting stagnant careers and moving out of Silicon Valley to make Hex-Nail our full-time focus. The success (hopefully) of the HN-01 will allow us to re-invest the money into RnD so we can start to refine/test our heater designs and fund the expansion of our software development team (which would enable us to implement improved/new tunings & features faster).

Hex-Nail: Graphs & Globs (Video)

We shot our first promo for our launch coming up! 3 angles simultaneously highlighting one of our most anticipated features...Glob Mode! (More on the expansion of Glob Mode below)

Hex-Nail: Graphs & Globs (Next-Gen E-Nail)

We dropped 0.3g of Bubbah Kush Shatter dropped on the CCA Liger V3 (30mm) SiC dish. Probably the best dab I've had in my life. We're so excited to dial in these tunings. These Ligers seem to be the perfect pair with the HN-01. We dropped 0.3g Bubbah Kush shatter in 'Glob Mode' and cleared it all at higher than our set temp! Guess this ol' thing works after all. We especially loved seeing the temp rise as we poured more shatter on.

Most Popular Wood So Far? Bloodwood.

I'm hoping to have a blog post up with more information about each wood within the next day or with more about the grain / finish characteristics of each wood...but for now here's some new shots of our front-runner: Bloodwood.

Remember though...The only real difference wood choice besides cosmetics (and workload for us, some of these woods are tough to mill properly) is the weight of the unit itself. Some of the woods are more dense than others so a little heft is added to those. There some durability differences between our options, but as long as you don't plan to you know, toss the controller against the wall...there should be no difference concerning functionality.

Update via (Fuck Combustion) - Nov. 27th

This update is mainly to address a question/suggestion we had in some other threads about temperature 'dipping' and whether or not this could be built into the Hex-Nail's feature set. There's a lot of info explaining the UI a bit more in detail after that, too.

Short answer: We already have this feature implemented and achievable in a couple of ways.

Long Answer:
The most obvious solution for this is, disabling the heater while the unit is still on. The Hex-Nail has Coil On/Off Capabilities are controllable via whatever means you like. Apps, Wi-Fi via a browser, Bluetooth, Touchscreen, etc. Thus achieving the desired effect by turning off the heater and allowing the temperature to drop to a desired level before re-enabling it (manually) and having it start to rise once again.

[Example: Set temp. @ 650, cut power to your heater, wait for it to reach 550, re-activate power to your heater and start the dab as the temperature then rises. as it normally would.]

We personally think that's a pretty involved way of getting this change to happen. So we'll do you one better. We will be expanding our already implemented 'Glob Mode' feature (seen briefly in the video above, more on that later.) to include completely customizable user preset 'Shifts' (which can be set and changed by the user at any time).

You will be able to make a new preset for a temporary 'Shift' in temperature (in either direction), for a user set period of time (and user set temperature variation). You will also be able to choose how each shift starts and ends. Want it to go up in temp, then down? Done. Want it to down, then up? No problem. Want it to go up and stay? Fine.

Needless to say there will be a deep rabbit hole when it comes to playing with the HN-01's 'Shift' options.

UI Explanation (Annotated)

Red: Current (Coil) Temp / Faded / Value: Changing
Orange: Current (Nail/Coil) Temp / Illuminated / Value: Changing
Green: Set (Nail) Temp / Illuminated / Value: Locked

You can choose to either track to the COIL or the NAIL temperature (and switch between them as you choose). Once you choose which to track to that value lights up (in this case, I've chosen to track to the nail temp, so it is brighter) and DOES NOT CHANGE as long as it remains selected. Since I've chosen to track to the nail, the middle number (orange) is now the current nail temp. The Hex-Nail will do it's best to keep this temperature the same as my set nail temp (green). Similar to your standard Set/Current PID interface. Since I'm not tracking to the COIL right now, that temperature is faded but it DOES update in real-time. If you switched to coil tracking it would become illuminated and LOCKED. Moving your current coil temp to the center and fading out your NAIL temp (which will then update in real-time).

It's really interesting to watch the 2 'real-time' numbers change independently of each other. Nail temp drops 2 degrees the coil temp may jump up 4 degrees to try to bring it back up. I feel like this seems more complicated without movement but if you watch the close-up melt frames in the Glob Promo (above) I think you'll get a handle on it pretty quickly. There's a few long shots in there that really show the functionality.

Feature Update: USB Charging/Data Ports (Via Fuck Combustion)

The USB ports were actually left out of phase 2 prototypes on purpose. We're still trying to actually see if they can be implemented to our standards. We had them on early prototypes, but we traced noise in the tracking data to them (especially when actually in use for charging). We're looking into ways of properly isolating them from the rest of the internals (unfortunately the best solutions increase size). In the end we'd rather ship a more accurate, smaller, reliable controller without, than have them as a poorly implemented extra feature that hinders performance in the grand scheme of things.

After building audiophile-grade amplifiers for a few months as a contractor in Austin at one point I have, unfortunately, already experienced major issues with interference from power 'noise'. The Hex-Nail's USB issue is similar to the effect 'dirty' power has on electronic components.

Apple Turns (RED) with More Ways than Ever to Join the Fight Against AIDS

November 30th, 2016
CUPERTINO, California — November 30, 2016 — In honor of World AIDS Day, Apple® is offering more ways than ever for customers to join (RED) in its mission to create an AIDS-free generation. Apple is the world’s largest corporate contributor to the Global Fund, and this year marks its 10th anniversary supporting (RED) in the fight to end AIDS.

(RED)’s critical work addresses the disparity in access to life-saving medication in sub-Saharan Africa, which has the highest prevalence of AIDS on the planet. The money raised by (RED) funds programs that offer counseling, testing, prevention and, most crucially, the life-saving ARV medication that prevents the transmission of HIV from mothers to their unborn babies.

“The gift of life is the most important gift that anyone can give,” said Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO. “Thanks to the vision and dedication of (RED), an AIDS-free generation is within our reach. We want to leave the world better than we found it, and that’s why our longtime partnership with (RED) remains so important to us.”

This year, Apple customers can support the fight while playing the games they love, shopping for loved ones ahead of the holiday season or listening to an exclusive (RED) holiday album from The Killers.

For the next week, a range of the most popular games across the App Store® — spanning from racing and sports titles to strategy, puzzle and action games — are offering limited-edition, custom (RED) content, exclusively available on the App Store. All proceeds from the associated in-app purchases go to the Global Fund.

The 20 participating games include Angry Birds 2, Angry Birds POP!, Best Fiends, Best Fiends Forever, Boom Beach, Candy Crush Jelly Saga, Clash of Clans, Clash Royale, CSR2, Episode, Farm Heroes Saga, FarmVille: Tropic Escape, FIFA Mobile, Hay Day, MARVEL Contest of Champions, PewDiePie’s Tuber Simulator, Plants vs. Zombies Heroes, SimCity BuildIt, War Dragons and YAHTZEE With Buddies.

In addition to the current (PRODUCT)RED lineup, which is available for customers to purchase year-round, Apple is also adding four new (RED) products including an iPhone® 7 Smart Battery Case, iPhone SE Case, Beats Solo 3 Wireless On-Ear Headphones and the Pill+ Portable Speaker, which are all available today.

Over 400 Apple Stores on five continents will turn their logos red or feature (RED) window decals to raise visibility for World AIDS Day in Apple's most widespread implementation of support for (RED) at its stores. Apple Store employees will share all the ways our customers can join us in supporting (RED) and the fight against AIDS.

Starting tomorrow through December 6, Apple is donating $1 to (RED)’s mission for every purchase made with Apple Pay® at an Apple Store®, on Apple.com or through the Apple Store app, up to $1 million. Bank of America will also make a donation for every Apple Pay transaction using its cards, also up to $1 million.

Customers around the world can also easily donate directly to (RED) through iTunes®. In the US, iTunes Movies is offering a free download of The Lazarus Effect, the documentary about the mission of (RED).

The Killers’ holiday album, Don’t Waste Your Wishes, is exclusively available on iTunes featuring all 10 of their holiday singles, as well as a new track, “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” with 100 percent of the proceeds in the US going to the Global Fund.

Over the past 10 years, 70 million lives have been impacted by (RED)-supported Global Fund grants. At the start of Apple’s partnership with (RED), 1,200 babies were born with HIV every day, and today, UNAIDS predicts that number could be near zero by the year 2020, with the end of AIDS by 2030.

With the life-saving medication costing as little as 30 cents a day, every person can make a difference. Through these efforts we’ll get that much closer to helping (RED) create an AIDS-free generation.

Apple revolutionized personal technology with the introduction of the Macintosh in 1984. Today, Apple leads the world in innovation with iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch and Apple TV. Apple’s four software platforms — iOS, macOS, watchOS and tvOS — provide seamless experiences across all Apple devices and empower people with breakthrough services including the App Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay and iCloud. Apple’s more than 100,000 employees are dedicated to making the best products on earth, and to leaving the world better than we found it.

CCA 710 & Hex-Nail: Together at Last

November 26th, 2016

We are very happy to let our customers know that the Hex-Nail HN-01 will ship with tunings for the Liger v3 series of nails by the very talented folks at CCA 710. This combo is flat out jaw-dropping. We're really excited to shake things up with these guys. SiC, Sapphire, and Quartz tunings will all be available when our first round ships in December!

The stability and efficiency differences between the Liger and anything else we've tested so far, are out of this world. We can literally see the difference with the HN-01. We think that this pairing could end up being the true king of the hill of the vaporization industry.

------

We're also happy to say that the CCA team will be getting the first Hex-Nails to ever leave the 4 walls of our headquaters for testing & personal use after we do a little tune-up with the new Ligers on the test bed.

We can't wait for everyone to see what a little dedication and innovation can do. We look forward to working with their team a lot in the future.

Happy Holidays, everyone. Stay safe, warm, and medicated. We even had Christmas come a little early this year at HQ.
